1. Introduction
CurseForge Updates is a Discord application operated by SmartStreamLabs. It monitors selected CurseForge projects and posts notifications about newly published releases to configured Discord servers.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By installing, accessing, or using CurseForge Updates or its dashboard, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the service.
3. Eligibility and authority
You must meet Discord's account and age requirements and comply with Discord's terms. You may configure a Discord server only when its owner has authorized you and you have the required server-management permissions.
4. Service description
Depending on configuration, CurseForge Updates provides:
- monitoring of selected CurseForge Minecraft projects and authors;
- Discord release announcements and optional role mentions;
- release-type, loader, Minecraft-version, and server-pack filters;
- dashboard and slash-command configuration; and
- optional Discord-native AutoMod protections.
Current project files are baselined when monitoring starts. The service is intended to announce future qualifying releases rather than replay historical releases.
5. Third-party services
The service depends on Discord and CurseForge/Overwolf. Their availability, policies, APIs, and content are outside SmartStreamLabs' control. Use of those services remains subject to their own terms. CurseForge Updates is not affiliated with or endorsed by Discord, CurseForge, or Overwolf unless expressly stated by the relevant company.
6. CurseForge content
CurseForge Updates reads public project and release metadata through the official CurseForge API. It does not claim ownership of third-party mods, changelogs, logos, or project content and does not normally mirror or redistribute mod files. Announcement links direct users to the relevant official CurseForge resources.
7. Discord server responsibilities
Server owners and administrators are responsible for:
- selecting appropriate announcement and alert channels;
- granting and reviewing bot and role permissions;
- selecting projects, authors, roles, filters, and exemptions;
- configuring optional AutoMod rules appropriately; and
- ensuring the service is used consistently with their server rules and applicable law.
8. Optional AutoMod
AutoMod is optional and off by default. When an authorized administrator enables it, CurseForge Updates may create and update Discord-native Auto Moderation rules for mention spam, mention raids, general spam, or configured keywords. The application is designed to modify only rules identified in its stored configuration as rules it created and manages. Detection is performed by Discord and cannot be guaranteed to be complete, accurate, or suitable for every community.
9. Acceptable use
You may not:
- attempt unauthorized access to accounts, servers, credentials, or internal systems;
- bypass authentication, authorization, rate limits, or other security controls;
- deliberately create excessive API load or interfere with service operation;
- use the service to distribute unlawful content or violate third-party rights; or
- steal or solicit bot tokens, OAuth credentials, API keys, or session secrets.
10. Availability
CurseForge Updates is provided on a best-effort basis. Maintenance, hosting problems, network failures, rate limits, Discord or CurseForge outages, approval delays, and breaking third-party API changes may interrupt or delay service. SmartStreamLabs does not guarantee uninterrupted operation or 100% uptime.
11. Changes to the service
SmartStreamLabs may modify, update, suspend, or discontinue features to improve the service, respond to security concerns, or remain compatible with third-party platforms.
12. Suspension and termination
Access may be restricted when reasonably necessary to address abuse, security, legal obligations, or Discord/CurseForge policy compliance. You can stop using the service by logging out of the dashboard and removing the bot from your server. Removing the bot does not necessarily erase previously saved configuration; see the Privacy Policy for removal options.
13. Disclaimer of warranties
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available.” SmartStreamLabs makes no promise that every release will be detected, announced immediately, or formatted without error, or that AutoMod will identify every unwanted message.
14. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, SmartStreamLabs is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from use of or inability to use the service, third-party outages, missed announcements, moderation decisions, or user configuration. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
15. Intellectual property
CurseForge Updates software, branding, and original assets belong to SmartStreamLabs unless otherwise stated. Discord, CurseForge, Overwolf, Minecraft, third-party names, logos, mods, and content remain the property of their respective owners.
16. Minecraft disclaimer
CurseForge Updates is not an official Minecraft product and is not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft.
17. Changes to these Terms
SmartStreamLabs may update these Terms when the service or applicable requirements change. The date at the top identifies the current version. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms where permitted by law.
